When I first moved to Pittsburgh, I worked at Animal Friends, a local animal shelter & advocacy group, for about a year and a half. It was a fantastic job -- working or volunteering at an animal shelter is great because no matter how bad your day is, you can always go pet a dog or play with a kitten and you’ll instantly feel better.
